Field Trip to The Quilt Place

On Saturday June 2 we have planned a trip to The Quilt Place, in Rockledge. This shop is HUMONGOUS and has the largest batik collection I have ever seen. Sharpen your credit cards but save a bit for lunch: we are going to Ossorio in Cocoa Village. All the details:

  • We assemble at the parking lot of the Cracker Barrel at 6699 South Semoran Blvd (SR 436) , close to the airport, at 9:30AM. The shop is about 40 miles from the departure point; hopefully some of us will volunteer to drive others and those being driven can contribute toward the gas.
  • The Quilt Place is HERE and should take about 45 minutes of travel, arriving just after the doors have been opened.
  • Directions are HERE.
  • After 2 hours of shopping, we've reserved tables at Ossorio Bakery and Cafe, at 12:30 pm.
  • Directions to the restaurant are HERE
June 2nd is End-Of-Bolt Saturday at The Quilt Place. It means you get 20% off if you buy the bolt; however, if you join the Sew Special program ($25/year) you get %30 off! Check out the website for all the details.

June 2012 Block of the Month

Ribbon Star
The June block of the month is the Ribbon Star block. This star is from Barbara Brackman’s book The Encyclopedia Of Pieced Quilt Patterns, and the original source of the design is unknown. Use whites or lights with bright colors to create your half square triangles. This will make a 12" finished quilt block, or 12-1/2" unfinished. Again, the pictorial tutorial by Faith of Fresh Lemons can be found here.

Leave a comment here or send an email if you have any questions on making this block. I am happy to help answer any questions. Bring your block(s) to the June 6 meeting for the OMQG block lotto! You get one chance for each block you make. As always, have fun.
